Gare de l’Est
Paris X

The Gare de l'Est in Paris is of symbolic importance: a major Parisian gateway to the railways of eastern France and Europe, it is one of the capital's 6 historic terminus stations. Today, the decommissioning of the former Kyriad hotel, located on the upper floors of the central building and the two pavilions cutting through the station's peristyle, opens up a whole new range of possibilities in terms of the services offered at the station.  The project proposes to create new public acces on the ground level, a large coworking space (on three levels from ground floor to ground floor + 3) and a restaurant area (on ground floor + 1). The latter will feature a large terrace at the foot of the Saint Martin rose window, with uninterrupted views of the Récollets convent. The architectural approach of the proposed project works with the existing structure, drawing on the existing architecture and revealing its structural and architectural qualities.
